"Writing is an extension of reading. Read. Read like a wolf eats! Read everything a teacher tells you to read, and then read above and beyond that. The writing will come. The way you learn is by reading a lot. I don't know a good writer who doesn't read and write a lot. My writing process is organic. It grows from the beginning up--from the soil up into the air. I may know at the beginning how I want my book to end, but I have to work through whole middle part of getting to that end. Always remember that you have to practice writing to get better at it." |
